General Partnership Bererix is continuing the construction of the Central Multimodal Interchange viaduct within the framework of the Rail Baltica project and is currently carrying out the dismantling of the railway fly-over of Prāgas iela and Dzirnavu iela under intense and tight deadlines, while retaining the current railway traffic.

“The road surface of the fly-over above Dzirnavu iela, which was built in 1912/1914, has now been dismantled to its intended level. After the removal of the retaining wall, the street will be resurfaced at this location as well. Due to the complex construction of the fly-over above Prāgas iela, the dismantling works were extended by one day. We will open the pedestrian tunnel as soon as on the morning of the 11 June to respect the wish of the residents to visit the Central Market during the holidays. We plan to resume tram operation according to schedule – on 19 June, but if we manage to complete the works earlier, we will inform Rīgas Satiksme and public transport passengers,” says Andis Linde, Head of Stakeholders of Bererix.

Along with the intensive works on Prāgas and Dzirnavu streets, installation of the retaining wall in Lāčplēša iela is in progress. Meanwhile at the construction site of Riga Central Station, the scheduled dismantling of tunnels A and B of the station building has been completed and pile-drilling works have started in the station area.

The tunnel on Prāgas iela and the section of the street from 13.janvāra iela to Riga International Bus Station (Prāgas iela 1) will remain closed to traffic until 19 June. The fly-over tunnel of Prāgas iela will be opened to pedestrians on the morning of 11 June. Pedestrian and traffic flows are currently organised along 13 Janvāra and Maskavas streets, as well as through Riga Central Market and along Gogoļa iela.

The dismantling works of the fly-over of Dzirnavu iela in the section from Satekles iela to Turgeņeva iela is also scheduled by 19 June and shall be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during works. Exits of Riga Central Station platforms to Dzirnavu iela are also closed to train passengers. Traffic and pedestrian flows are organised along the parallel streets of the city - Satekles iela and Gogoļa iela, as well as Turgeņeva iela, Timoteja iela, Abrenes iela and Lāčplēša iela.
