The dismantling of an apartment building declared dangerous in Krāslava has started - a four- storey apartment building at Raiņa iela 4 was recognised as dangerous two years ago, when, according to construction specialists, its operation was stopped and residents were accommodated elsewhere.
The customer of the demolition is Krāslava Municipality Council, the dismantling works are planned to be completed by 16 July 2019. Currently, the demolition service company Demontāža.lv has started the dismantling of the building.
The Apartment house with 44 apartments was built in the 1960s. Its operation was suspended in the summer of 2017 until the moment the damage is repaired. Specialists found that there are cracks in the building, as well as the artificial mound on which it is built, has gradually begun to slip.
"Buildings of this type in Latvia in general are currently a worrying issue, because the officially determined service life of the so-called "Khrushchevkas" is 70 years, which will soon be over," emphasises Mārtiņš Mālnieks, director of the company Demontāža.lv.
