Demolition of the main building of the “Pūt vējiņi!” concert stage has been started in Jurmala Park, so that construction of a new open-air concert venue, which was given a completion deadline of about one and a half years, can begin as soon as possible, reports the Public Relations and Marketing Department of Liepaja Municipality.
It is planned that the reconstruction of the concert garden will increase the number of mobile seats, provide the necessary infrastructure for artists and spectators, and give an opportunity for Liepaja residents and guests to enjoy outdoor concerts in a modern, tidy, and safe environment. In turn, the concert garden will be merged with Jurmala Park - therefore, new greenery and facilities will be created in the formerly closed territory.
The total area of the new building of the “Pūt vējiņi” concert stage will be 1,833 square meters, while the area of the land plot will be 22,162 square meters. It is planned that the central area will have 706 seats, including 34 seats for people with disabilities, 207 seats on the side terraces, and 441 seats on the end terrace. The reconstruction project of the “Pūt vējiņi” concert garden was developed by SIA Livland Group and the architect Mikus Lejnieks.
It has already been reported that the right to conclude a construction contract was granted by the municipality to the company Bildberg, which promised to perform the work for EUR 1,851,647.86 euros, excluding value added tax. As the old concert stage has become dangerous, most of it will be demolished. The new "Pūt vējiņi!" will be created by using funds from the European Regional Development Fund.
