On the site of the former mechanical workshop of Liepājas metalurgs at Brīvības iela 142a, construction works have been started by the Liepāja Special Economic Zone SIA Caljan Rite-Hite Latvia. The new production plant of the company will be developed here.
Caljan Rite-Hite Latvia currently operates in the Business Centre on Kapsēdes iela, employing 160 people there. The company manufactures telescopic conveyors for loading and unloading small packages; all products are exported.
Such conveyors are used by all large postal companies that deliver goods purchased online to customers, explains Gatis Dradeika, Director of Caljan Rite-Hite Latvia.
The company plans to expand production in Liepāja, it is planned to increase the number of employees to 250 in the coming years, and in August 2020 production will be moved to the new location at Brīvības iela 142a.
In order to adapt the building of the former mechanical workshop to the needs of the new production plant, the outer wall of the workshop has now been demolished and an extension will be built. The production premises will occupy 12 thousand square metres, but the office of the company will be located in 1000 square metres.
It has already been reported that last year SIA Caljan Rite-Hite Latvia acquired the former mechanical workshop from SIA Hortus RE, a subsidiary of AS Citadele Banka, the creditor of JSC KVV Liepājas metalurgs.
